Envirothon is a hands-on environmental and natural resource education program for high school students across New York State. It combines classroom learning with outdoor field experiences and challenges students to apply their knowledge to real-world environmental issues.
Envirothon is open to students in grades 9–12, including public, private, charter, and homeschooled students. Teams consist of five students.
Yes. Each team must have an advisor; however, the advisor does not need to be a teacher. Advisors may be parents, guardians, homeschool coordinators, or community members.
Teams are tested in five core areas of environmental science:
Envirothon helps students develop teamwork, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills while exploring careers in agriculture, conservation, environmental science, and natural resource management.
Montgomery County Soil & Water Conservation District supports Envirothon teams by helping advisors get started, providing educational resources, offering review sessions, and connecting students with local conservation professionals.
If you are interested in forming a team or serving as an advisor, please contact Scott Davis at Montgomery County Soil & Water Conservation District. [email protected] (518)853-7008 We are happy to help guide you through the process and connect you with additional resources.
